We are all on a budget these days and for a lot of us, let’s face it, it’s hard feeding your family a completely organic based diet. Especially if you are a single family income. (Like us) So,  I wanted to post a list for you of the top 12 non-organic, contaminated foods. The one’s you should ALWAYS buy ORGANIC and  NEVER compromise on!

Also, since I brought up the topic of budget and affordability, in my opinion if you are trying to “clean up” your eating NEVER compromise on the meat you buy either. If you can’t fit into your budget, the safest grass fed beef, then, I suggest you cut it out all together. I believe you should not compromise your health for cheap, dirty meat.

Please remember this, if nothing else…You WILL PAY for your choices in food, whether it’s out of your pocket, or in the form of you or your families health. Risking your health and well being, just isn’t worth the cost!

Recent Case of Mad Cow Disease in California!


Cattle into Cannibals. The Real Issue with the Recent Case of Mad Cow Disease

By now, you are probably aware that a case of Mad Cow Disease was confirmed yesterday. The cow in question was discovered in California, and already it has set off a chain reaction of government pundits and food experts rushing in to say there isn’t a problem.

Well, yes and no. There have only been four cases of Mad Cow Disease ever found in the United States. However, what gets glossed over is how a common practice in conventional cattle management can contribute to the spread of this nasty disease. It’s one of the ugly truths that Big Dairy doesn’t want you to know about. If you’re squeamish, you may not want to read what I’m about to tell you.

It is common practice in the dairy industry to turn cattle into cannibals. That’s right, to turn a natural plant-eating animal into a cannibal. “Waste” product from slaughtered cows is routinely turned into “feed” that goes back to the livestock herd. In what I find to be the most appalling example, the blood from these slaughtered animals is sometimes dried and added back to the “replacer” milk for calves. You heard that right, young calves often drink blood.  And, it’s perfectly legal to allow this to happen, and it’s been going on for decades!

The following is taken directly from the FDA’s website. For those that don’t know “BSE” stands for Bovine Spongiform Encephalopath and is the scientific name for Mad Cow Disease. Here is the direct quote from the FDA website:

How was BSE spread?It is thought that BSE was spread via meat-and-bone meal fed to cattle. The practice of using this material as a source of protein in cattle feed has been common for several decades. In the late 1970s there was a change in the production (rendering) process used to make this meat and bone meal. One hypothesis has been that this change permitted the infectious agent of scrapie (a transmissible spongiform encephalopathy, or TSE, of sheep) to survive the rendering process, and get transmitted to other animals, such as cows, that are fed meat-and-bone meal nutritional supplements. An inquiry by the British government has however, concluded that scrapie infected MBM was not the source of BSE nor was the change in the rendering practices responsible for survival of the BSE agent. Rather, this inquiry has stated that BSE may have originated spontaneously as a result of a genetic mutation and was amplified by the feeding of contaminated MBM to cattle

Please, please, please STOP supporting the producers who adhere to the practice of turning cattle into cannibals. Yes, the practice is unsafe, but more than that it’s inhumane

The Food industry’s most evil ingredients

Ever wonder what’s really in the food sold at grocery stores around the world? People keep asking me, “What ingredients should I avoid?” So I put together a short list that covers all the most toxic and disease -promoting ingredients in the food supply. These are the substances causing cancer, diabetes, heart disease and leading to tens of billions of dollars in unnecessary health care costs across America (and around the world)

If you want to stay healthy and out of the hospital, read ingredients labels and make sure avoid all these ingredients:

Acrylamides– Toxic, cancer-causing chemicals formed in foods when carbohydrates are exposed to high heat (baking, frying, grilling). They’re present in everything from bread crusts to snack chips, and because they aren’t intentional ingredients, acrylamides do NOT have to be listed on labels.

Apartame-Chemical sweetener that causes neurological disorders, seizures, blurred vision and migraine headaches.

Autolyzed Proteins– Highly processed form of protein containing free glutamate and used to mimic the taste-enhancer chemical MSG.

BPA (Bisphenol-A) – A hormone mimicking chemical found in nearly all food packaging plastics. Active in just parts per billion, BPA promotes cancer, infertility and hormone disorders, It also “feminizes” males, promoting male breast growth and hormone disruption.

Casein-Milk proteins. Hilariously, this widely used in “soy cheese” products that claim to be alternatives to cow’s milk. Nearly all of them are made with cows milk proteins.

Corn Syrup-Just another name for High Fructose Corn Syrup, frequently used in infant formula products.

Food ColorsFD&C Red #40, for example, is linked to behavioral disorders in children. Nearly all artifical food colors are drived from petroleum, and many are contaminated with aluminum.

Genetically Modified Ingredients-Not currently listed on the label because the GMO industry (Monsanto and DuPont) absolutely does not want people to know which foods contain GMOs. Nearly all conventionally grown corn, soy and cotton are GMOs. They’re linked to severe infertility problems and may even cause the bacteria in your body to produce and release a pesticide in your own gut. If your’e not eating organic corn, you’re definitely eating GMO corn.

High Fructose Corn Syrup-A highly processed liquid sugar extracted with the chemical solvent glutaraldehyde and frequently contaminated with mercury. It’s also linked to diabetes, obesity and mood disorders. Used in thousands of grocery items, including things you wouldn’t suspect like pizza sauce and salad dressing.

  • Homogenized Milk
  • Hydrochloride
  • Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein
  • Partially Hydrogenated Oils
  • Propylene Glycol
  • Phosphoric Acid
  • Sodium
  • Sodium Nitrite
  • Soy Protein
  • Sucralose (Splenda)
  • Sugar
  • Textured Vegetable Protein (usually made from GMO soy beans)
  • Yeast Extract (hidden form of MSG)

What is GMO?

What is GMO ? So glad you asked, let me regale you. GMO is an acronym for Genetically Modified Organism. They have been created through the gene-splicing techniques of biotechnology (also called genetic engineering, or GE). This relatively new science allows DNA from one species to be injected into another species in a laboratory, creating combinations of plant, animal, bacteria, and viral genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods.”GMO food may make you sick. Studies link GMOs with toxins, allergies, infertility, infant mortality, immune dysfunction, stunted growth, accelerated aging, and death.”

In 30 other countries around the world, including Australia, Japan, and all of the countries in the European Union, there are significant restrictions or outright bans on the production of GMOs, because they are not considered proven safe. According to the USDA in 2009, 93% of soy, 93% of cotton, and 86% of corn grown in the U.S. were GMO.

There is absolutely no consumer benefit’s to GMO’s. A 2008 CBS News Poll found that 87% of consumers wanted GMOs labeled). And, according to a recent CBS/New York Times poll, 53% of consumers said they would not buy food that has been genetically modified. Here’s some good news though,  it’ll only take 5% of the U.S population to change what type/brands of foods they buy in order for the largest food conglomerates to switch back to non GMO, due to a reduction in their market share. Basically it comes down to simple mathematics. GMO means agribusiness, agribusiness is Kraft, Heinz,Kellog’s, Quaker, Nestle, etc. etc. the list goes on and on. These companies purchase the commodity crops because they’re grown faster and cheaper. For us the consumer that translates to less safe and empty food nutritionally. All these things play a factor in these companies “bottom line.” It’s up to us as consumers to determine which way the food industry swings. We all vote with every dollar that is spent on the “national brands.”

I’ve found that many students want to know – is meat bad for you?

We can easily see that industrial meat production (in facilities such as certified animal feeding operations) harms the environment and facilitates antibiotic resistance.  But does meat really harm human health directly?  Should someone avoid eating meat altogether – even sustainably or organically grown beef and lean meats? Or are there benefits to eating meat in moderation? Overall, we believe that all foods can be part of a healthy diet – including meats.

Saying “meat is bad for you” is a very strong statement, and one that would be difficult to prove based on the scientific evidence we have. Understanding why requires digging into some of the overall challenges with evidence-based nutrition. For example, if we do a study and find that people who eat lots of meat are more likely to get cancer or be overweight…

Not False Hope

The purpose of my blog is not to give a “false hope” of healing. It is also not intended to provide medical advice or to take the place of medical advice and treatment from your personal physician. Statements with in this blog are not intended to diagnose, cure or prevent any disease.

I do however, strongly believe, that with proper nutrition, pure whole organic foods and probiotics you will provide your body with the right nutrients to give your self a fighting chance at healing and getting well. I think of clean and responsible eating like this…imagine a tall industrial building in the midst of construction, the foundation was laid, the inner workings have been installed, including framework, electrical, plumbing etc. Then the builders realize that all of the building materials are weak and have been compromised. So they begin to reinforce all of the existing components and what they end up with is something better, stronger and healthier than what they started with. The right foods can help rebuild and reinforce your current health state. God created our bodies to heal and repair it self. But if it doesn’t have healthy cells to help repair it, then it’s just drawing from the currently sick and weak cells. So give your body a boost, at least this way it will have a fighting chance to triumph over disease. What ever you happen to be dealing with.  So, may the God of the universe who created you bless your efforts on your road to good health, wellness and recovery!

Do you have an Undisciplined Appetite?

Let’s start with the word Gluttony-Such a STRONG biblical word, so does it still have meaning for us today? Let’s take a look…”Gluttony usually indicates excessive eating and drinking, and it does refer to a ravenous, nearly unstoppable, appetite. It is to food what greed is to material wealth.  Specifically in scripture gluttony is associated with eathing foods forbidden to the Israelites, the meat and delicacies that are called “deceptive food” (Prov. 23:1-3,20,21) It was also associated with a  loose and undisciplined lifestyl.”  That is not to say we are not “allowed” to eat meats, fish, poultry etc. On the contrary, today everything that lives and moves is given to us as food. (Genesis 9:3)

Modern day has celebrated gluttony, we see it all over television with shows such as “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Man vs. Food, etc. (Don’t get me wrong, I’m not here to bash those shows;  there is entertainment value in them for sure, and I enjoy watching them too but living that type of lifestyle has it’s consequences.

“Many modern foods have been robbed of their vital nutrients and contain ingredients that may fill our bodies with elements that take the place of nutritious food.” (Is an understatement) The “gluttonous use of foods high in sugar and fat,fillers, enriched flours and empty calories, GMO’S, the use of pesticides, herbacides, fungicides etc. takes away from the nutritional balance  of milk, fruit, vegetables, meat, and bread, which contain fiber and other nutrients for good digestions and health. We should not live to “satisfy our selfish and harmful appetites but rather use our bodes to bring glory to God.) 1 Corinthians 6:19.20
